As a public institution, our school district is funded by, governed by, and accountable to the community we serve. In practice, this means:

  • Universal Access: We have a mandate to provide a free, equitable, and high-quality education to every student within our boundaries.
  • Taxpayer Accountability: Because we operate on public funds, our budgets and spending plans (like the LCAP) require absolute financial transparency and community input.
  • Community Governance: We are led by an elected Board of Education and make decisions openly in public meetings, as required by the Brown Act.

Being a public institution means we are partners with our taxpayers and families, working together to raise the next generation.
